Waddy Jáquez at the Lincoln Center with his Film La Barbería

Dominican director Waddy Jáquez and some of the cast from La Barbería will participate in a special presentation of the film in the United States.

The debut film of director Waddy Jáquez, entitled La Barbería (The Barbershop in English), will have a special presentation on July 25 at the Lincoln Center in  New York. The event will include the presence of the former president of the Dominican Republic and president
of GFDD/Funglode, Dr. Leonel Fernández; Dominican producers, Rafael Elías Muñoz and Juan Basanta; director, Waddy Jáquez; actor, Héctor Aníbal; director of the  DR Film Commission, Yvette Marichal and director of the Global Dominican Film Festival, Omar de la Cruz.

“I’ve felt very excited since they told me the news. To witness my debut film at a special presentation and at Lincoln Center is a crucial moment for me. I feel great satisfaction despite the pain I’m carrying due to the unexpected loss of my beloved sister Daunia. I’m dedicating this to you, my friend and career inspiration,” stated Waddy Jáquez.

The event is organizaed by the Global Dominican Film Festival
(FCGD, for its initials in Spanish) – an inititative of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) – and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), in collaboration with Palacio del Cine, the DR Film Commission (DGCINE), Lantica Media, Radio Cadena Comercial, SBS and Duende Film, within the framework of the Dominican Film Festival, directed by Armando Guareño.
