Tools and Networks for Hispanic Businesses at the 6th GWHCC Annual Business Expo

GFDD and the Embassy partnered to showcase the Dominican Republic through its food and beverage industries, natural resources and investment opportunities before an audience of 2,000 people.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States participated on March 24th at the 6th Annual Business Expo hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) at
the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Tuesday, March 24th.  Aiming to increase tools and networks for Dominican and Hispanic businesses in the Washington, D.C. area, GFDD and the Embassy showcased the Dominican Republic through its food and beverage industries, natural resources and investment opportunities.

GFDD initiatives New Perspectives: Dominican Republic book, Portal Dominicana On Line (www.dominicanaonline.org) and EcoHuertos, among many others, were part of the
material distributed to the audiences, as part of its mission to promote a better understanding and appreciation of Dominican culture, values and heritage in the Dominican Republic, US and worldwide.

The purpose of the Expo, which has become a highly anticipated throughout the Hispanic community in the area, was to provide the ideal platform for Hispanic Business owners to start and/or grow their businesses by connecting them with potential clients
and organizations that support their growth. Angela Franco, GWHCC President and CEO, said that “We’ve seen how the Business Expo has influenced and assisted thousands of Hispanic businesses throughout the past five years.” This year the Expo brought together more than 2,000 attendees.

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to promote and facilitate the success of Hispanic and other
minority-owned businesses and the communities they serve through networking, outreach, advocacy, and education.
