The OAS Initiates “Mirabal Sisters” Skills Course for Female Candidates

The last day for interested Dominican women to register will be the 7th of October. Classes will begin November 2018 with virtual and in-class parts.

The Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM, for its initials in Spanish) and the School of Governance of the Organization of American States (OAS) invites all interested women to participate in the “Mirabal Sisters” skills course, aimed toward Dominican women that want to
become candidates for public office at the national or local level.

October 7 is the deadline to apply for this training, which will be offered during November 2018 with one virtual and one in-person phase.

The course, which is being supported by the Central Electoral Commission (Junta Central Electoral) of the Dominican Republic, seeks to strengthen participant’s skills for electoral readiness, specifically in the areas of political
communication; construction of a political agenda; direction and organization of electoral campaigns; the administration of an electoral budget; conflict negotiation and resolution and the agenda of women’s rights and gender equality.

The OAS and GFDD/Funglode
