“The Film Industry as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development in the Dominican Republic” to be Discussed at GFDD
November 13, 2014The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), through its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will host a discussion panel on "The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development". The contributions of the Law for the Promotion of Film Activity (No. 108-10) and the development of the film industry in the country in the recent years will be analyzed.
This conversation will feature
perspectives and experiences of authorities in the field and renowned Dominican filmmakers, including Boni Guerrero Canto, Legal Manager of the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish Acronym); Laura Castellanos, Dominican lawyer specializing in film industry and Co-Producer of La Montaña; and Dominican film Directors Fernando Baéz, Ivan Herrera and Ronni Castillo.
The panel, coordinated by GFDD in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish Acronym), the Mission of the Dominican Republic to the OAS and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the United States of America, will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. at the GFDD Washington, DC Office: 1629 K
