    Taking the opportunity of the 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women to raise awareness on social issues currently subjugating women and marginalized groups in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), in partnership with John Jay College of Criminal Justice (John Jay College), and several other NGOs, hosted a side event at UN Headquarters on Wednesday
    March 22, 2017.

  • GFDD Participates in 2017 UNA USA Members’ Day at UN Headquarters

    In its capacity as Vice Chair of the United Nations Association of the USA Council of Organizations, GFDD/FUNGLODE participated in the 2017 edition of UNA-USA Members’ Day on Friday, February 17th. The annual meeting took place in the General Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters in New York City.

  • GFDD Calls for a New Social Paradigm with Sustainable Tourism Playing a Key Role during the 55th Session of the Commission for Social Development

    GFDD/FUNGLODE participated in the 55th Session of the Commission for Social Development which was convened from 1-10 February 2017, in New York, US. The Commission which opened on Wednesday February 1, under the priority theme “strategies for eradicating poverty to achieve sustainable development for all”, held its last day of negotiations on Friday February 10, when it approved three draft resolutions by the Economic and Social Council focusing on Africa’s development, youth and the
    mainstreaming of disability in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  • GFDD/Funglode to Support the 2017 Edition of the New York Dominican Republic Model United Nations

    On Wednesday April 12, the New York Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN 2017) will accommodate 400 students in New York City as part of one of the largest model UN conferences open to youth in the western hemisphere. The event, which is co-organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo, will run from Wednesday April 12 to Sunday April 16 and will be hosted at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, with a closing ceremony due
    to be held on the final day in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations.
