  • The Children, Absolute Stars at the Dominican Film Showcase

    Yesterday, the children were the absolute stars at the Dominican Film Showcase that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) has hosted since November 19th and until Sunday, November 23rd, in Washington, D.C. The children enjoyed the first Dominican animated film, 3 al rescate, a story about teamwork, friendship and loyalty.

  • Dominican Diaspora in the Nation’s Capital Enjoys the Film Who’s the Boss? at the Dominican Film Showcase

    Among contagious laughter and before an enthusiastic audience the film Who’s the Boss?, of Dominican Director Ronni Castillo, screened on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the facilities of the Arts Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C. The activity was part of the events that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS) presented in the capital of the nation, since it opened on Wednesday, November 19th.

  • With a Full House La Montaña Inaugurates the Dominican Film Showcase in Washington, D.C.

    Before a full house the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), inaugurated the Dominican Film Showcase (DFS) in Washington,D.C on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with the presentation of the docudrama La Montaña, directed by Tabaré Blanchard and Iván Herrera. This event marked the beginning of a program that will run in the
    capital of the United States until Sunday, November 23.

  • GFDD Attends UN Briefing Session on the Ebola Outbreak

    On Thursday November 12 2014, a meeting was held at United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York to discuss the current status of the Ebola outbreak, in the presence of Dr. David Nabarro, UN system Senior Coordinator for the response to Ebola Virus Disease. GFDD staff was in attendance to report on the findings.

  • Dominican Film Industry Present in the Nation’s Capital

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its initiative, Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will feature five films as well as a discussion panel with filmmakers, producers and industry experts of the Dominican Republic during November 19-23, 2014 at the Arts Museum of the Americas (AMA) of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC.

  • GFDD Attends 10th edition of CILA 2014 from October 29 to November 2, 2014

    On Saturday November 1, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) was present to witness and support the closing ceremony of the Americas International Conference (Conferencia Internacional Las Américas, CILA, for its Spanish acronym). The conference was hosted by the Association of the United Nations in the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from October 29 – November 2,
    2014.

  • Dominican Diaspora in NY Rejoices with Documentary Orgullo de mi Tierra: Descubre Puerto Plata

    An enthusiastic audience participated on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Dominican Get Together organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), where the documentary Orgullo de mi Tierra: Descubre Puerto Plata was screened. The activity, held at the Symphony Space, was made in collaboration with the Clúster Turístico del Destino Puerto Plata, the Puertoplateños Association of the United States and Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN).
