GFDD/Funglode was present for the 2015 International Conference on Sustainable Development organized by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network at Columbia University from Wednesday September 23 to Thursday September 24.

UN General Assembly Transmits to its Seventieth Session the Outcome Document on the Post 2015 Development Agenda
GFDD was present for the 101st plenary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly as it decided to transmit to its seventieth session the outcome document entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, for adoption during the 25-27 September UN summit on the post-2015 development agenda.

Seeking to provide a space for showcasing climate action and concrete initiatives, GFDD/Funglode put together a special UN side event on Monday June 29 that joined high-level policy experts and government representatives with the Director of Lago Enriquillo: A Prelude to Climate for an engaged debate on the topic of climate change.

GFDD/Funglode to Host Book Presentation and Panel Discussion on “Treating Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” in Santo Domingo
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo (Funglode), through its Health Studies Center, will host an upcoming book presentation and discussion on one of the newest GFDD/Funglode publications. “Treating Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy”, written by Henry A. Montero, helps fill an important information gap and contributes to the body of research on
Parkinson’s in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Multi-stakeholder respondents call for NGOs to be Involved in the Planning, Implementation and Review Stages of the Post 2015 Development Agenda
GFDD/Funglode attended the Informal Interactive Hearings with Representatives of Non-governmental Organizations, Civil Society, Major Groups and the Private Sector on the Post-2015 Development Agenda from Tuesday May 26 to Wednesday May 27.

GFDD/Funglode Call for Greater Cooperation in Technology Transfer and Innovative Financing for Development Mechanisms at ECOSOC Civil Society Hearing
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) submitted a joint written statement to ECOSOC on April 28th, as part of the civil society hearing on the longer-term positioning of the United Nations development system. The written statement is one of six interventions that have been accepted for publication on the ECOSOC website. Focusing on ways the UN may adapt to the new requirements of the Post-2015 Development
Agenda, the document calls for the need to strengthen technology transfer in developing countries and highlights the importance of innovative partnerships to free up new sources of development finance.

GFDD partners with the Conference of NGOs to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations and the importance of Civil Society Relationships
The Conference of NGOs in consultative relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will partner on May 7th to hold a commemorative panel discussion in the presence of H.E Ambassador Martin Sajdik, as well as several representatives of UN Agencies and NGOs, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations.
