Screening of Landfill Harmonic: Alliance between DREFF and the Dominican Republic Constitutional Court
October 28, 2016
The Year Round Environmental Film Screenings Program, an initiative of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), which takes place throughout the country during the year, hosted this time the awarded documentary Landfill Harmonic, in coordination with the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic.
The staff of the institution (80 people in total), accompanied by the judges Leyda Margarita Piña, Victor Gomes Berges
and Wilson Gomez Ramirez and the representative of DREFF, Reydi Moreta, among others, met at Caribbean Cinema in Downtown Mall in Santo Domingo for the screening.
"I want to express our deepest appreciation for all the cooperation, dedication and willingness to screen the documentary Landfill Harmonic to judges, officials and employees of our Constitutional Court," said judge Piña. "With the assurance that we will continue to strengthen our ties of
cooperation, we express our highest consideration and special recognition to team of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival," she continued.
On her side, DREFF Director of Programming, Maria Victoria Abreu said Landfill Harmonic is a film that "definitely moves all those who have the opportunity to see it; last year during DREFF we hosted its protagonists, the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura and meeting them personally was
incredibly empowering."
"It will be a pleasure to continue working with you in the near future. We have many other environmental films available. We are delighted to contribute to the promotion of environmental awareness and sensitivity of the staff of the Constitutional Court ".
Landfill Harmonic follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical group that plays instruments made entirely out
of garbage. When their story goes viral, the orchestra is catapulted into the global spotlight.
