Panel Discussion on “Financing for Development Post-2015: The Growing Importance of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Developing Countries”
December 1, 2014To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations (UN), the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) will host a panel discussion entitled "Financing for Development Post-2015: The Growing Importance of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Developing Countries",
at 3pm on Thursday, December 18th, 2014 at the UN Church Center.
GFDD will hold the event in its capacity as Executive Committee Member of the UN Association of the United States of America Council of Organizations (UNA-USA COO) and as a non-governmental organizations member of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO).
Significant progress has been made towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) making a real difference in people’s lives and, with strong leadership and accountability, this progress can be expanded in most of the world’s countries by the target date of 2015. The UN is working with governments, civil society and other partners to build on the momentum generated by the
MDGs and carry on with an ambitious post-2015 development agenda, including a new set of goals, called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This panel discussion would seek to present the risks and the opportunities of multi-stakeholder partnerships as a catalyst for financing this new development agenda, outlining the governance requirements this new framework will
entail.
Panelists will include representatives from civil society, United Nations agencies, multilateral organizations, the private sector and the post-2015 development agenda process.
When: Thursday, December 18, 2014.
Where: UN Church Center, New York City.
