New Perspectives: Dominican Republic Photo Exhibit and Publications Benefit Dominican Youth
January 22, 2013On March 7, 2013, the New Perspectives Dominican Republic Photo Exhibit, an initiative of GFDD and FUNGLODE, will be on display at an event to benefit The DREAM Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving the educational needs of over 4,000 children and youth born into poverty along the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.
The benefit, which will take place at El Museo del Barrio, will celebrate the legacy of Celia Cruz, at an exciting and
lively event filled with music, cocktails, food and an auction. Also receiving honors the same evening will be award-winning Dominican Fashion Designer Sully Bonnelly and Grammy-winning Talent Manager and Producer, Omer Pardillo Cid.
The New Perspectives Dominican Republic Photo Exhibit will showcase a selection of approximately 20 aerial images from the GFDD publication “New Perspectives: Dominican Republic”. The result of
an international interdisciplinary team, including GFDD Executive Director Natasha Despotovic and Dominican-based photographer Anne Casale, the aerial photographs of scenes throughout the DR show the country in a way that it has never before been seen. The photo book will be available for sale at the benefit with all proceeds from sales to be going to The DREAM Project.
