October 30, 2015
The summit brings together the most influential thought leaders from the Global Agenda Councils of the World Economic Forum.
Head of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), Dr. Leonel Fernández has chaired the Global Agenda Council on Latin America, invited by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The meeting was part of the WEF’s Summit on
the Global Agenda, held prior to the Forum’s Annual Assembly to take place in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2016.
During this Summit, the former Dominican president was accompanied by Funglode’s executive director, Dr. Marco Herrera.
Considered the largest brainstorming event in the world, this Summit brought together the most influential thought leaders from the WEF’s Global Agenda Councils. This network is comprised of
some 80 regionally or industrially themed project councils that examine trends in the global agenda for each subject area. The Councils also formulate public policy proposals and decide the content for meetings.
The 2015 edition of the Summit aimed to provide members of the network with a unique platform to connect with others, identify the latest trends and risks, explore the interconnections between questions, and collectively develop solutions to face the most pressing
global problems today.
In interactive workshops and interdisciplinary sessions, more than 1,000 members of the network discussed ideas and comprehensive recommendations to achieve a real impact, focused on the achievements of the Global Agenda Councils that have been working together since September 2014.
The World Economic Forum is an international organization that brings together leading international politicians, business figures, journalists, and
select intellectuals to analyze the most pressing difficulties facing the world today.
