InteRDom Continues Collaboration with Baruch College at Third Annual Work Abroad Fair

October 13, 2011

Over the years InteRDom’s relationship with Baruch College in downtown Manhattan, New York City, has passed through many phases, and it moved into a new stage on Thursday, October 13, when InteRDom representatives attended the Third Annual Work Abroad Fair, sponsored by the Weissman Center for International Business.

This was
the first collaboration between InteRDom and the Weissman Center for International Business, which sponsors numerous programs, conferences, and forums for students, faculty, and business professionals that enrich understanding of critical issues in international business and the global economy.  InteRDom had a booth at the fair, where representatives met with interested students, distributed materials and showed students sample internship proposals.

InteRDom’s relationship with the Weissman Center comes after participating in activities and programs together with the offices of Study Abroad and Career Services.  It will be an important extension of InteRDom’s association with Baruch College, as more and more exciting internship opportunities are opening up for students in the Dominican private
sector due to rapid economic development and expansion.

Undergraduate students of any field who are interested in transferring course credits as well as performing an internship should consider taking advantage of the Program, as well as Baruch’s exchange agreement with one of InteRDom’s partner universities, Iberoamerican University (UNIBE), which makes it easier to transfer course credits back from the Dominican Republic.  Students not as
confident in their Spanish language skills can take a semester course load, focus on improving their Spanish and then participate in a second semester (or summer) internship.

The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development
(GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn
academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
