GMAI Will Present Workshop on Documentary Film Creation in Association with Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión

The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), in association with Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), will present a workshop on documentary film creation. Classes will take place March 23-27, 2009 at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

The objective of the workshop is to provide students with instruction on the history and creation of documentary film.
Participants will learn about contemporary film analysis; principal characteristics and viable structures for observational and analytical documentary film; script development; and the use of persuasion.

The workshop will be taught by Rolando Almirante, creator and producer of documentary films and television and radio programs and Professor of Audiovisual Arts at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión and Instituto Superior de Cine y Televisíon
in Cuba.
GMAI, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is dedicated to providing professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute
seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.

GMAI regularly offers introductory, intermediate and advanced courses. It also organizes events that promote greater understanding of the media arts, such as conferences, screenings and interviews with filmmakers.
