GMAI Offers Advanced Film Course in Collaboration with One Race Global Film Foundation and Basanta Films

The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in collaboration with One Race Global Film Foundation and Basanta Films, organized the course “Advanced Film.” The course was held June 29 to July 3 at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo. Class instruction was led by Irving Vincent NYU Opportunity Programs Professor and Multimedia Director and Vice President of One Race Global Film Foundation along with Dominican cinematographer Claudio Chea, Puerto Rican director and editor
Raúl Marchant and Puerto Rican director and editor Juan Manuel López Mari.

 
The course, which provided focused instruction on production and direction, photography and film formats and sound and editing, was directed to persons that had already completed the course
“Introduction to Audiovisual Production: Film and Television,” a program that has been offered annually by GMAI, New York University’s Opportunity Programs and One Race Film Foundation since 2006. Nineteen students participated in the course.
 
“Introduction to Audiovisual
Production: Film and Television” equips
students with the skills necessary to work in the film and television industry, providing them opportunities to learn about the responsibilities associated with each component of the production process and to apply their acquired knowledge.
 
GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the
nation.
