GMAI Course Workshop From Conception to Execution Comes to a Close

On April 11, 2008, thirty-eight students were awarded certificates for their successful completion of the workshop: “From Conception to Execution.” The class was offered by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), and took place April 7-11 at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.
 
During the course, producers and students carrying-out advanced studies in film, television and the audiovisual arts learned about topics fundamental to film and television production and distribution. Key subjects covered in the class included:
  • Devising strategies for the development of cinematographic
    projects;
  • Film synopsis and pitching;
  • How to work within legal frameworks: intellectual property law, film law, copyright and author rights;
  • Obtaining funds according to genre (i.e. documentary, drama, animation) from public and private institutions within the Dominican Republic and abroad.
This course was instructed by Pepi Gonzalvez, Producer and Head of the Production Department at the
Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (International School of Film and Television) in Cuba.
 
GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a
