September 28, 2010
On Sunday, September 27, 2010, President Leonel Fernández, Honorary President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), and First Lady Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández, made an official visit to GFDD’s New York Office, where they were greeted by GFDD Staff Members.
Dr. Leonel Fernández’s visit, which coincided
with the United Nations General Assembly, as well as with important GFDD events including the Dominican Republic: New Perspectives Photography Exhibit on display at the United Nations Headquarters (open to the public until October 1) and the First Annual GFDD Golf Tournament, a fund raising event that was organized September 22 to benefit the foundation’s projects and programs.
During his time spent at the office, President Fernández touched base with
foundation’s personnel, who not only plan and implement initiatives both in the Dominican Republic and in the United States, but also serve as critical actors in cultivating institutional relations and promoting the visibility of the foundation amongst US-based agencies and academic entities.
