July 28, 2006
From July 25th to the 30th, New York’s International Latino Film Festival took place in various venues of the city. During these couple of days, many new producers and directors were able to showcase their films to all audiences and receive their feedback and answer questions regarding their feature.
One of the most acclaimed activities of the
NYLatino Film Festival is “Dominican Night”. This was its 5th year presenting features either on Dominican Culture or History or a film produced or directed by a Dominican Republic Native. The main film this year was “La República de Beisbol: Los Grandes Dominicanos Del Juego Americano” (Republic of Baseball” The Dominican Giants of the American Game), directed and produced by Daniel Manatt.
During
the presentation of “Dominican Night” many Dominicans attended to support the wonderful work of the producers of the features and festival. Among the present were Erasmo Lara, Amabssador of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations; Oscar Herasme, President of the Dominican American Professional Alliance (DAPA), Omar Minaya, General Manager of the New York Mets and many of the Dominican residents of New York. Representatives from the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) were also present.
