GFDD/Funglode and ISTE to Discuss Common Education Agenda

On Tuesday, April 24, President Leonel Fernández – head of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development/Funglode – met with representatives from ISTE, a not for profit organization that serves educators interested in better use of technology in education.
During the meeting President Fernández was accompanied by GFDD’s executive team, headed by Natasha Despotovic, its Executive Director; Yamile Eusebio, head of GFDD’s New York
office; Semiramis de Miranda, ICT & Projects Director and Paul Goris, Funglode’ coordinator of educational technologies.
Participating on behalf of ISTE, an organization that serves more than 100,000 education stakeholders throughout the world through individual and organizational membership and support services, were CEO Richard Culatta; Joseph South, Chief Learning Officer; and Yolanda Ramos, Senior Director of Professional Services.
Issues Discusses During the Meeting
Both President Fernandez and CEO Culatta discussed the missions of their respective institutions and the work they carry out at the national and international levels to further key educational agendas. Also an important agenda item included in the discussion was the challenges faced by the education sector, not only in Latin America, but also in the rest of the world.
An ample discussion took place
regarding the challenges faced by the education sector, running from primary, intermediate and high school studies, to university and higher studies.
Another important agenda item discussed was how GFDD/Funglode and ISTE could come together to collaborate in favor of the in the Dominican Republic and the Dominican diaspora in New York City.
