GFDD and FUNGLODE to be joined by the United Nations Economic and Financial Committee Chairman at the Global Roundtable

In February, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Roundtable will discuss the United Nations Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee), which is currently chaired by His Excellency, Mr. Abdul Momen. Ambassador Momen was the first Global Roundtable guest to join us for discussions at FUNGLODE in Santo Domingo in his joint capacity as Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations.

During this session Ambassador Momen will deal with
issues relating to Second Committee which include; economic growth and development, financing for development, sustainable development, human s, poverty eradication, globalization and interdependence, operational activities for development, and information and communication technologies for development.

The Second Committee also considers issues relating to Groups of Countries in special situations – such as the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing
Countries (LLDCs). The Committee also considers the item on permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources.

Additionally, Ambassador Momen will talk in depth about the trip of the UN Secretary General, Ban-ki Moon to Bangladesh, which was his first trip after his second term re-election last year.
