GFDD and FUNGLODE Announce New Initiatives with Chicago Universities

Dr. Leonel Fernández, in his capacity as President of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and its international arm in the United States, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), signed two agreements for inter-agency collaboration promoting technological development with De Paul University, and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), in the U.S..

With these agreements, signed by University Presidents John L Anderson,on
behalf of IIT, and Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, on behalf of De Paul,  the Foundations seek to strengthen their informational programs, promote research and technological development, and facilitate access by Dominican undergraduate and postgraduate students to these world-recognized American schools.

The agreements,which were signed at the headquarters of both educational institutions on May 7, will encourage visits by teachers from the Dominican Republic to
Chicago and vice versa. Similarly, Admission of qualified Dominican students into  the undergraduate and graduate programs will be facilitated, as well as in to research projects, workshops and other academic activities.

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is a private institution located in the South Chicago area. It offers programs in the fields of engineering,
science, psychology, architecture, management, design and law.

About De Paul University
DePaul University is an institution of higher education founded by the Vincentian Congregation of Priests in 1898.It takes its name from St. Vincent de Paul, the founder of the Congregation.

In the past, FUNGLODE had agreed with DePaul University to conduct a series of refresher courses in programming and development
of video game applications in the Dominican Republic.
