GFDD and FUNGLODE Aided in Organizing Course on Commerce and Environment for Government Officials

April 7, 2008

GFDD and FUNGLODE aided the Organization of American States (OAS) in organizing an intensive course on commerce and environment for government officials, March 31 — April 4, 2008, at the Escuela Diplomática de la Cancillería de la República Dominicana (Dominican Republic Diplomatic School at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters) in Santo Domingo.

The course explored how the Dominican Republic can improve systems of production and increase levels of competitiveness, while lessening the impact of manufacturing processes on the environment.

GFDD and FUNGLODE develop various programs pertaining to the environment and the economy, as well as the environment and DR-CAFTA, through its International Center for Environmental and Sustainable Development (CIEMADeS), a collaborative initiative between the two foundations and the Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico and the Université Quisqueya in Haiti.

Both non-profit organizations support and promote the objectives of the OAS and are active members of the OAS’s Civil Society, a community of non-governmental organizations that supports the multilateral institution in the realization of its summits.
