GFDD and E-Gap Linking the Dominican Community in DC

October 1, 2014

The Dominican community in Washington D.C. enjoyed a gastronomic meeting on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the legendary Restaurant Los Hermanos, as part as the efforts of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Education Global Access Program (E-GAP) to promote education and collaboration around the developing world.

Participants enjoyed a pleasant evening where they tasted delicious Dominican food and had the opportunity to exchange views and meet up with other fellow Dominicans and Latinos living in the State Capital.

The Education Global Access Program (E-GAP) was founded in 2013 through a partnership of sociocultural
anthropologists, IT professionals, and globally-minded volunteers. They work with schools, teaching hospitals, and community centers in the developing world to promote education by building collaborative partnerships and increasing technology access. They currently have initiatives in the Dominican Republic, and so partnered with GFDD to join efforts in linking the Dominican community and the promotion of the Dominican culture in the United States.

GFDD is a nonprofit,
non-partisan organization dedicated to the advancement of global collaboration and exchange relevant to Dominican professionals, general audiences and institutions in the homeland and abroad. The Foundation conducts research, enhances public understanding, designs public policies, devises strategies, and offers capacity building in areas crucial to social, economic, democratic and cultural sustainable development.
