GFDD and DORENEX presented “Growth to Development” in Yonkers

Dominican economist Jonathan D’Oleo Puig was the keynote speaker at an event organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the General Coordinator of Dominicans Abroad at the Riverfront Library in Yonkers, New York, on Thursday, July 19.

The activity, open to the public, free of charge, was headed by Yamile Eusebio Paulino, GFDD’s director in New York City and Maria Gribakina accompanied by Jael Rivas,
members of the Board of the General Coordinator.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Eusebio Paulino highlighted the interest of GFDD to support the professional development of young Dominicans living abroad. GFDD, through its initiative Dominican Get Togethers promotes understanding and appreciation of Dominican culture, values and heritage, and creates opportunities for the
discussion of contemporary issues relevant to Dominican society both and home and abroad.

DORENEX Board member, Mrs. María Gribakina, thanked GFDD for working with their organization for the presentation of this important activity.  During her remarks, she presented the community leaders that always support the diaspora in its constant efforts to achieve economic growth.

Ms. Eusebio Paulino introduced the event’s invited guest, Jonathan
D’Oleo, who spoke on “Transforming Developmental Growth:  A Challenge that Concerns and Benefits us All.”

FROM GROWTH TO DEVELOPMENT
Speaker Jonathan D’Oleo Puig has an impressive academic background, and is an exceptional representative of the Dominican diaspora in the United States. He has two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science from Brandeis University, and a Masters in
Public Policy from the University College of London.

At the age of 23 he established a financial advisory company in Miami, Florida and is currently Director General  of D’Oleo Analytica LLC a company that provides financial advice and the necessary conceptual tools – through workshops and conferences on leadership, innovation and strategic planning at the international level – to current and emerging entrepreneurs to help them grow and develop sustainable
development structures.

During his presentation, the invited speaker captured the attention of the public through an interactive presentation, rich in anecdotes, and with the main goal of encouraging members of the diaspora to specialize in one particular area where they will be able to grow and develop.  He also highlighted that in order for individuals to achieve their objectives, they must take into consideration three important goals: perseverance,
methodology and discipline.

After his presentation, speaker D’Oleo engaged in a lively question and answer session with the audience.
