FUNGLODE/GFDD Rejects Donald Trump’s Statements, Suspends Miami Golf Tournament

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), firmly and categorically reject recent statements made by US Republican Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump. We regard them as seriously offensive to Mexican immigrants in the United States and consequently an attack on the entire Latin American and Caribbean community, both within and outside that country.

For these reasons, we are announcing the cancellation of the annual fundraising golf
tournament, which was scheduled for July 20th at the Trump National Doral Miami in Florida.  In the coming days, a new date and place for the tournament will be announced.

GFDD is an institution that promotes diversity, tolerance, and brotherhood among all peoples. In good conscience, we cannot associate our name with a person whose expressions serve only to foment hatred and division within American society.

We support the Mexican, Dominican, and
Latino communities living in the United States who, through their hard work and contributions to society, have helped shape and build this great nation.
