FUNGLODE and GFDD to host Conference based on Israeli Teacher Training Model
November 23, 2011On November 23, GFDD and FUNGLODE will host a conference titled "Teacher Education in Israel: the MOFET Institute Model and its Specialization in Teacher Training," by Dr. Sara Ziv, Director of the International Department at the MOFET Institute in Israel.
MOFET is an Israeli organization specializing in teacher training, promoting seminars such as "Perception on the Role of the Educator of Educators" and
"Introducing Changes: Opportunities and Obstacles" under the direction of Michla Shahar, coordinator of the MOFET Institute”s projects for Spanish-speaking countries.
Within Israel, the MOFET – Hebrew for “example” or “model” – enjoys prestige as an institution authorized by the Israeli Ministry of Education, whose main objective is to educate the instructors at all teacher education institutes
in that country.
The exciting conference comes as yet another example of GFDD and FUNGLODE’s commitment to education, collaboration and exchange through their Center for Studies in Education, complementing seminars like the “Summer 2011 Workshops for Teachers” as well as long-term initiatives such as InteRDom, the premier internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic.
In this sense, the
sister organizations have much in common with MOFET by way of encompassing many spheres of action nationally and internationally. MOFET’s international department has two channels: the JTEC focusing on Jewish education through constant contact with Jewish schools and communities around the world and the ITEC aimed at the non-Jewish world and linking their teacher training department to major universities worldwide.
