Just a Few Days Left Until the Dominican Night at the Environmental Film Festival in Washington, D.C.
GFDD and its Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) will once again host a Dominican Night as part of the Environmental Film Festival on the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF). DCEFF, now in its 28th edition, will be held March 12-22, 2020. The event, titled “Protecting the Caribbean Ecosystem” consists on the screening of two Dominican environmental films followed by Q&A with filmmakers and special guests.
Chasing the Snot of the Whales of Samaná, a short by Marvin del Cid, and Isla de Plástico (Plastic Island), a documentary by José María Cabral

GFDD Joins DC-MOLA in Promoting Dominican Culture at Fiesta DC
Dominican Republic is the invited country of honor of the 2020 Fiesta DC event, an annual event hosted by the DC Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA), to be held this year on September. Throughout the year many celebrations will take place to promote the Dominican culture and heritage in Washington, DC, and Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is part of these efforts.

DREFF and Cinema Boreal, with the generous collaboration of GreEnergy Dominicana, Zenit Capital, and other special sponsors, will be hosting a free series of environmental screenings titled “Nuestra Tierra” (Our Earth). Each Thursday between March 12th and April 2nd, 2020, Dominicans will be able to enjoy several beautiful and interesting documentaries on environmental topics.

As part of GFDD’s initiative ‘Dominican Film Showcase’ and in collaboration with New Opportunities, Inc, the film “Flor de Azúcar”, by the late Dominican filmmaker Fernando Báez Mella, will be screened at the Connecticut Academy for the Arts. This screening is free.
