More than 400 Students from all Over the World Participate in First Annual NYMUNLAC 2018
The Dominican Association of the United Nations (ANU-RD), jointly with the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE), its sister organization the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and the Mexican GlobalMuners civil association, formally opened the first annual New York Model United Nations Conference for Latin American and the Caribbean with the participation of more than 300 young students from the Dominican Republic and some 100 peers from other Latin American nations.

University of Argentina Recognized Leonel Fernández with a Doctor Honoris Causa Degree for his Political and Academic Trajectory
The distinction was presented to the former Dominican President for his contributions to the communications sector, the rights of the press, and international relations. It is the maximum award issued by the UNSAM.

Successful Presentation of Dominican Cultural Dictionary in Orlando, Florida
The ceremony, held at the Christian Center “El Pan de Vida” was supported by the Dominican Cultural House in Kissimmee. Participants included Dr. Jimmy Sierra, writer, filmmaker and author of the dictionary; Professor Héctor Martínez, who worked on the project and Dr. Leonel Fernández, former President of the Dominican Republic and current President of Funglode and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), who wrote the book’s foreword.

In Geneva!
The Confederation of NGOs (CoNGO), an organization in consultative relationship with the United Nations, held its General Assembly from March 1-3, 2018, and GFDD was there! The Assembly was held both at the International Convention Center in Geneva, as well as in the John Knox Center. GFDD has been a CoNGO Board member since 2014, when it became the organization’s Secretary.

On Friday, May 11th, GFDD is joining efforts with AMCHAM-DR, Dominicanos USA (DUSA), Banco BHD-León, the Dominican Ministry of Culture and its Commissioner in the United States, to screen the documentary "Hay un País en el Mundo" (There's a Country in the World), followed by a discussion on the importance of keeping dominicanness alive and promoting the Dominican culture abroad. This event is part of the 26th Dominican Week in the United States.

With a special program of screenings, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), a GFDD initiative, and the Cinemateca Dominicana, will commemorate World Environment Day. The screenings will be free and will be held at Cinemateca Dominicana (Avenida Pedro Henríquez Ureña, entrada II, Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, Gascue, Santo Domingo). Movies to be screened include Sonic Sea, The Boy and the World, Gambling on Extinction, Racing Extinction, among others.
