With over 38 years of experience as a singer, songwriter, composer and researcher of Dominican culture, Xiomara reflected on her career as an artist before a packed audience in New York City. She also gave a live concert, during which she performed some of her most famous songs.

Discussing Green Growth at April´s Global Roundtables

The GFDD Global Roundtables hosted Dr. Muthukumara Mani, Lead Environmental Economist at the World Bank and author of the publication Greening India’s Growth: Costs, Valuations and Trade-offs. The session discussed, among other things, the role that environmental resources play in economic growth, otherwise known as Green Growth.

CoNGO and GFDD Invite you to Honor the United Nations on its 70th Anniversary

The organizations will hold a commemorative panel discussion in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Martin Sajdik, as well as several representatives of UN Agencies and NGOs. Natasha Despotovic, GFDD´s Executive Director, will discuss and reflect on the status of relationships between NGOs and the United Nations, including what contributions NGOs can make to promote the principles, purpose, and effectiveness of the UN and its related agencies and programs.

Join Dominican filmmaker Mr. Fernando Báez at the UN for the New York Screening Premiere of Lago Enriquillo: A Prelude to Climate Change.

The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion on climate change, seeking to present how this issue has affected the planet and what efforts need to be made in Paris by the international community to reach a bold and ambitious climate treaty.

Following speaker remarks, the event will then be opened up for a Q&A session with the audience.

At the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation s CapitalThe Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) was once again honored to partner with the EFF, as part of the 23th edition of the prestigious festival, to screen two Dominican films: Lago Enriquillo: Preludio del cambio climático, and Mañana and host a panel with the films’ directors at the Gala Hispanic Theater in Washington DC.
