Dominican Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment Publication Launch at Dominican Get-together New York, 7/8/2011
On Friday July 8, 2011 GFDD and FUNGLODE will use the platform of its continuing cultural program, Dominican Get-togethers in the Big Apple for an event to; 1) screen a documentary film about the Dominican Republic, and 2) to launch an exciting new initiative, Dominican Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment. Dominican Artists in New York
In its ongoing mission to promote an understanding and appreciation of the Dominican culture, values and heritage and facilitate exchange betweens Dominicans at home and abroad, GFDD reaches out to Dominican community living in New York Metro Area. DOMINICAN YORK PROYECTO GRAFICA, a printmaking collective of 12 artists of Dominican descent who live and work in and around New York City. Headed by Pepe Coronado, the artists use a variety of printmaking techniques, and the pieces explore the individual artist's perspective on the theme of Dominican identity or Dominicanidad. Discussion on the "Role of Think tanks, Foundations and Philanthropy in Democratic Development"

GFDD and FUNGLODE will host a discussion on the "Role of Think tanks, Foundations and Philanthropy in the Democratic Development" with Dr. James McGann, Director of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia and president of McGann Associates.

GFDD and FUNGLODE host Dominican Film Showcase at the Organization of American States in collaboration with Art Museum of the Americas, Dominican Embassy to the US, and the Dominican Mission to the OAS

GFDD and FUNGLODE will be sponsoring a Dominican Film Showcase at the OAS, during which four films closely associated with the DR will be screened -- two of them directed by Dominican filmmakers.

Workshop on National Public Policies to Reduce Drug Demand and Abuse, weeklong workshop-discussions exploring other countries experiences in the design of multi-disciplinary and inter-sectorial public policies, in coordination with the OAS' Inter American Commission on Drugs (CICAD) and the Dominican National Council Against Drugs. The inaugural conference will be held at FUNGLODE on August 1, 2011 at 7:30pm.

FUNGLODE and GFDD Conference focuses on "Disaster Preparedness" in the Dominican Republic.
8/22/2011 – 8/23/2011
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the DR Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will be organizing a conference on August 22 and 23, 2011 to assess the Disaster Preparedness of the Dominican Republic based on lessons gained during, and following, Haiti's devastating Earthquake in January, 2010.

CUNY Photo Exhibit

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will host an open-air photo exhibit entitled New Perspectives: Dominican Republic, in collaboration with the CUNY Center for Dominican Studies Institute at The City College of New York, this coming Fall.
