Eighth Edition of the International Conference of the Americas (CILA) Begins Today
October 24, 2012Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are partnering with the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) to convene the eighth edition of the International Conference of the Americas (CILA) – the student oriented conference on global issues of greatest
transcendence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The international event begins today, Wednesday October 24, and will continue until Sunday, October 28, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Convention Center in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
More than 1,500 youth from different regions around the world will join together in an environment of diplomacy and cooperation to devise solutions to the challenges facing the international
community.
The conference will simulate 13 organs and commissions of the United Nations and other multilateral, regional and international institutions. It also offers seminars, conferences, workshops and exhibitions, in addition to social and cultural activities on themes directly related to the agenda of the United Nations.
CILA 2012 will feature a series of activities, among them: the Workshop-Seminar for teachers serving as advisors
“Innovation, Formation and Compromise: The Role of Educators,” the Global Concert, the Cultural Gathering, the Closing Night Party, and the First Dominican Competition of Proceedings before the International Court of Justice (CODOCIJ 2012).
The working languages will be Spanish, English and French.
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will be represented at the international conference by the Director of the GFDD
New York Office, Ms. Yamile Eusebio.
GFDD and FUNGLODE will also have a stand at the event, which will contain promotional materials about GFDD/FUNGLODE programs and showcase publications realized by the Foundations.

contributes to the agenda of work the United Nations through educational campaigns, workshops, seminars, lectures, panel discussions and publications.
