DRGFF representatives Omar De La Cruz (DRGFF Technical Director), Taina Rodríguez (Audiovisual Department Coordinator) and
Antonio Espaillat (DRGFF Advisory Committee Member and President of Procomunicaciones and Radio Cadena Comercial) had the opportunity to view more than 20 documentary and feature films, identifying a number of works to premier during the 2009 Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, scheduled to take place November 18-22 in the Dominican Republic. Participation in the Guadalajara Festival also provided the Festival team the opportunity to become familiar with the latest industry trends,
first hand, from some of Ibero-America’s most innovative artists and vanguard projects – trends that will impact the growth and quality of GFDD and FUNGLODE projects in the area of audiovisual arts, amongst them initiatives realized by Foundations’ Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI).

DRGFF plays a leading role in
nurturing film culture in the Dominican Republic by bringing the best of international narrative and documentary film to a wide audience. The Festival raises awareness and deepens understanding of global challenges while using film as a modern platform for the discussion of political, social and economic issues. DRGFF, together with GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute, supports capacity building, provides network opportunities for Dominican professionals and fosters
the development of a strong and sustainable national film industry.
