DREFF Joins the World Bank Initiative Film4Climate
August 1, 2016The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) is proud to announce its recent partnership with Film4Climate, an initiative launched by Connect4Climate, a global partnership program dedicated to raising awareness about climate change issues around the world created by the World Bank and a broad range of partners.
Film4Climate aims to develop a concrete plan to reduce the environmental impact of film production as well as raise awareness about
climate change through cinema.
The film industry can set an example and save money by reviewing production methods to reduce the amount of energy and resources used. What is more, messages woven in an engrossing story on the big screen do change minds, and hearts.
This initiative brings together industry leaders who are already actively greening the silver screen, as we believe it is time for a creative and influential alliance to contribute to the
climate debate and help forge solutions.
“DREFF will be a valuable addition to the Film4Climate community, due to our commitment to promote environmental filmmaking and raise the level of public awareness as well as serving as a catalyst for programs and projects that contribute to environmental and socioeconomic sustainability”, said DREFF executive director Natasha Despotovic.
Sharing Film4Climate mission and goals, DREFF will
contribute to unifying the film industry under one globally-recognized standard for sustainable productions, and help develop a global community among industry leaders.
We are a campaign, a coalition, and a community that cares about climate change. Together we can green the industry one film at a time!
