Dr. Leonel Fernández to Present “Dominican Republic 2044” Project on Tuesday in New York

September 26, 2016

This Tuesday, Former Dominican President, Dr. Leonel Fernández, will introduce “República Dominicana 2044” (RD2044) at an event in New York City. The project, being carried out under the auspices of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), is a vision for development and infrastructure for the next 30 years.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday September 27th at 7:00 pm,
will be held at Symphony Space, 2037 Broadway, NYC 10025. To attend this event it is essential to preregister at: www.rd2044eventbrite.com.

RD2044 is an infrastructure development plan with a 30-year projection that envisions the 32 provinces that comprise the Dominican Republic as the country prepares to celebrate the Nation’s Bicentennial. The project was initially introduced
in Santo Domingo in February of this year.

Based on the Ley de Estrategia Nacional de Desarrollo 2030 (National Development Strategy Law 2030), RD2044 is a 30-year vision that seeks the commitment and empowerment of representatives from each of the country’s communities.

RD2044 contains Dr. Fernández’s short, medium and long-term vision on how to convert the Dominican Republic into the model of an equitable nation, while considered a
first world economy.

At this Tuesday’s event, the former Dominican President will announce the major projects designed for Greater Santo Domingo, each of the provinces and interior towns through the use of audiovisual resources, including a 3D-layout to recreate the proposed places and infrastructure.

The presentation of RD2044 is part of a large project, which Dr. Fernández discussed in New York last week.

The presentation
of RD2044 in New York is being organized by the engineer César Fernández, project coordinator and director of the Center for the Study of Urban Planning and Infrastructure at Funglode, in collaboration with its sister organization in the United States, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD).
