Dr. Leonel Fernández Participates in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Dubai

At the opening ceremony Fernández shared the stage with Vice President of the United Arabs Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also Prime Minister and Constitutional Monarch of Dubai.

Dubai (United Arabs Emirates) – Former President of the Dominican Republic and President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Dr. Leonel Fernández, participates since Sunday, November 9 at the annual meeting of the
World Economic Forum, held in Dubai, one of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates.

Fernández, who is also the President of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD, by its Spanish acronym), attended on Sunday the opening of the “Summit on the Global Agenda 2014”.

In this ceremony, the former Dominican President shared the stage with Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also Prime Minister and Constitutional Monarch of Dubai.

The ceremony was also attended by Professor Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum. The meeting was held at the Convention Center Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.

Currently, Fernández is Vice President for the Global Agenda Council, created in 2008 by the World Economic Forum. In this organization, the former President represents Latin
America.

The Global Agenda Council consists of international experts from corporate, institutional and academic areas as well as other fields. Their mission is to exchange ideas and explore solutions to the most pressing global and regional issues, so that they are integrated in a framework of global collaboration and processes of decision making.

The World Economic Forum addresses global issues such as migration, urban development, transnational crime,
financial systems and climate change, among others, in order to present the trends that are occurring in each of the global issues.

It is considered a unique event which he brings together the brightest minds in the world to design solutions to the most critical challenges that humanity faces.
