Dr. Fernández and the President of Colombia Examine the Dialogue Process in Venezuela

The President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, met on June 15th with Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, with whom he talked about the efforts carried out jointly with other former rulers in pursuit of a peaceful solution to the crisis affecting Venezuela.
The meeting between Fernández and Santos was
held at Palacio de Nariño, headquarters of the Colombian Executive, and lasted for about 45 minutes.
During the meeting, the President of Colombia showed particular interest in learning about the evolution of the dialogue sponsored by the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to find a solution to the Venezuelan crisis.

Santos emphasized his desire to reach a solution that is satisfactory and beneficial to all parties involved in the dialogue.
On his side, Fernández told Santos that both the Government of Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan opposition have expressed willingness to start a process of dialogue on the interest of the Venezuelan people.
The Dominican political leader explained to the Colombian President that the talks focus on three basic aspects: the
economic and social issue that includes food and drug supply; the respect between the public authorities, primarily between the Executive, the Judiciary and the National Assembly; as well as the establishment of a Commission of Truth, Justice and Reconciliation.
