Dominican Teachers will Participate in Competition in Peru, with Support from GFDD, FUNGLODE, Microsoft and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic

Four Dominican teachers will participate today, September 19, and tomorrow, September 20, in the competition “Innovative Teachers” in Lima, Peru, which is the result of a collaboration between Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Program, and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic.

Educators Bruno Reyes, María
Elena Vargas, María Isabel Rothlis, Juan Carlos Hernández and Edward Ulloa are presently participating in the program in Peru, along with FUNGLODE Education and Technology Coordinator and Microsoft Partners in Learning Coordinator, Paul Goris; Juan Luis Lozada, Manager of Academic Programs for Microsoft and Elsa Romano, Representative of the Ministry of Education.

Dominican teachers will present the following projects:
María Elena Vargas – “Pictures
and illustrations with natural pigment colors”
Bruno Reyes – “The challenge of pregnancy among adolescent students”
Edward Ulloa – “French ICTs”
María Isabel Rothlis – “Innovating lecture through the use of radio and videoclips”

The teachers selected participated in the local chapter of the competition, which took place in March of this year. Since then, GFDD and
FUNGLODE staff has been working closely with the instructors.

Teachers from all parts of Latin America will compete in the regional competition in Peru. Winners of the regional competition will then go on to compete internationally in Amsterdam.

The participation of the Dominican representatives in the regional competition is the result of arduous preparation. GFDD and FUNGLODE are confident that the Dominican competitors will represent their country
well in the regional rounds, and wish them great success!
