Dominican Republic Will Host 2010 Summit of Virtual Educa

During the emotionally charged conclusion of the fourth edition of Virtual Educa Caribe, which took place March 4-6, 2009, President of Virtual Educa Caribe, Ligia Amado Melo, formally announced that the Dominican Republic will be the host country of next year’s Virtual Educa 2010 Summit, to be celebrated June 21-25, 2010 at Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.

Antón, Secretary General of Virtual Educa; Jorge Rey Valzacchi, Head of the Argentine Chapter of Virtual Educa; Iván Gullón, Academic Vice-Rector of Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo; and Yamile Eusebio, FUNGLODE Educational Activities Coordinator.
During the conclusion of the forum, the President of Virtual Educa Caribe and Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology expressed the critical role of Virtual Educa in promoting
the exchange of best practices in the area of virtual education and the replication of successful educational paradigms. She also spoke of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology’s success in training 260 professors via e-learning programs and announced that the Ministry will soon offer a course for 500 educators registered at Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.

Antón, discussed strategies to involve new companies and motivate them to continue to promote learning. “The Dominican Republic is working everyday on the future of education,” expressed Antón.
Jorge Rey Valzacchi presented a video from Argentina, the 2009 Virtual Educa host country. He expressed his satisfaction with the event and indicated his desire to participate in future editions of the summit.
