Dominican Film Industry Present in the Nation’s Capital
November 6, 2014Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its initiative, Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will feature five films as well as a discussion panel with filmmakers, producers and industry experts of the Dominican Republic during November 19-23, 2014 at the Arts Museum of the Americas (AMA) of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC.
The
discussion panel "The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development" will be held at GFDD’s D.C. office, located at 1629 K St. NW. with special presentation by Boni Guerrero Canto, Legal Officer of the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish acronym) and Laura Castellanos, Lawyer specialized in the film industry and Co-Producer of La Montaña; as well as Dominican producers and
filmmakers.
La Montaña; Lago Enriquillo… A Prelude to Climate Change; Who’s the Boss?; 3 al Rescate and Sol Caribe are the Dominican films that will be screened during the Dominican Film Showcase.

attendees can share experiences with special guests such as Iván Herrera, Co-Director of La Montaña; Fernando Báez, Director and Writer of Lago Enriquillo… A Prelude to Climate Change and Ronni Castillo, Director of Who’s the Boss ?, among others.
In addition to the screenings and conversations with special guests, the audience will enjoy special activities organized for the children, after the projection of the film 3 al Rescate.
