FUNGLODE/GFDD to host Lecture: The Leadership Crisis In The West and What History Has Taught Us

Ian Morris, Professor of Classics and Professor of History at Stanford University, will deliver a lecture on "The leadership crisis in the West and what history has taught us", on Monday, November 7th, at Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) headquarters.

FUNGLODE has invited the general public to the dissertation, to be held in the Auditorium at
7:00 PM, and which it has organized jointly with its sister organization in the United States , the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD).

Morris, in addition to being a Professor, is also a writer and has published eleven books. The latest is "Why the West Rules… For Now: The Patterns of History, And What They Reveal About the Future", an award-winning book of the year by The Economist, and winner of the  PEN Center
USA  literary award.

He was Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of History and Classics in the Committee on the Ancient Mediterranean World, and Associate Member in the Department of Anthropology at the  University of  Chicago . Between the years 2000 and 2007 he also directed the Stanford archeological excavations at Monte Polizza, Sicily.

His next book, "Measuring Civilizations: An Index of Social
Development", will be published in 2012. He is currently writing another book titled "War! What Is It Good For?
