  • Doves for the International Day of Peace: ReCrearte and La Salle
    September 15, 2017

    After a two-month break since its last visit, GFDD’s ReCrearte program stopped by the Juan Bautista de la Salle School to collaborate and join in its advance celebration of the International Day of Peace. In keeping with the day’s theme, program coordinator Lucía Marte led a conversation with a group of students and their teacher about the importance of the Earth and its natural resources. Afterwards, they put their words to action and created a tree and doves, international symbols
    of peace, from recycled paper.

  • ReCrearte Comes to Santo Domingo’s Galería 360 Mall
    June 26, 2017

    On June 11th and 25th program coordinator Lucia Marte, on behalf of GFDD/Funglode’s ReCrearte Program held workshops in Santo Domingo’s Galería 360 Mall. At the workshops, children aged 3 to 11 years old learned to recycle both paper and plastic products. All told, over 60 children accompanied by approximately 110 adults participated; learning the value of common waste products, raising awareness for environmental issues, and promoting the protection of planet Earth and its natural
    resources.

  • ReCrearte Holds Workshop and Recycled Art Exhibition as Part of APEC University’s Environmental Week

    In accordance with its mission to spread awareness about environmental issues and promote environmental sustainability, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) ReCrearte program participated in APEC University’s 2017 Environmental Week with an art exhibition and workshop led by Lucia Marte, the ReCrearte coordinator.

  • ReCrearte and Recicla 360 Join Forces to Promote Recycling Art with Three Workshops for Little Children
    June 5, 2017

    GFDD’s recycling art program, ReCrearte, will participate in the fourth edition of Recicla 360, in Santo Domingo, with three children’s workshops. In commemoration of World Recycling Day and World Environment Day, Recicla 360, which will be held at the Galería 360 shopping center, includes the participation of specialized presenters and artists who bring a fresh and creative vision to the environment, sustainable development and best practices, so that the whole family can take care
    of the planet.

  • GFDD/Funglode Celebrates International Recycling Day with a ReCrearte Exposition and a Discussion About Waste Management in the Dominican Republic

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), through their ReCrearte program, celebrated International Recycling Day with a recycled art exposition and a discussion about waste management in the Dominican Republic.

  • Five and Six Year Old Students from Two Santo Domingo Schools Take Part in Fun, Educational Recycling Workshops
    April 28, 2017

    ReCrearte coordinator Lucia Marte had a busy day on Thursday, April 27, when she facilitated creative recycling activities at Escuela Higuero Abajo and Escuela Perantuen in Santo Domingo, DR.  Marte’s first stop was in the morning at Escuela Higuero Abajo, where she was joined by 14 students, as well as two teachers from that school.
