FUNGLODE and GFDD Participates in Educational Activities in Brazil

(FUNGLODE’s)  Training Activities Program and Director of  its sister organization the United States, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) participated in a series of meetings of the education sector, both in Curitiba and in Sao Paulo, Brazil, May 17 – 20, 2011.

Grupo Positivo

A group of international guests from
Argentina, Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Malaysia and China, visited the different institutions of Grupo Positivo, a Brazilian company dedicated to technology, education and research. During the visit, Lic. Eusebio was able to appreciate the innovative work being done by this Brazilian company in support of education through the use of tools such as the “E-Block”, which brings students’ interaction with software to a new dimension. This approach
emphasizes learning by doing and helps children to learn with exciting pictures, music, animations, and games that encourage collaborative work and make learning meaningful, successful, and a concrete social experience.

Seminar: "Educating Cities: Exploring Best Practices for the Improvement of Learning"

The seminar "Educating Cities: Exploring Best Practices for the Improvement of
Learning" offered by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and by two companies, PROMETHEAN and CIFAL, took place on May 18 at the Federation of Industries of the State of Parana (FIEP-CIETEP) headquarters.

During this meeting there were presentations on groundbreaking experiences in the area of education in Latin America, on success stories in the learning process through the use of new technologies, and on public-private partnerships,
as well as other issues related to the importance of education to ensure the proper functioning of modern cities.

Mr. Luis Alberto Riart, Minister of Education and Culture of Paraguay, was the special guest who presented the experience of his country on the process of transforming education and the inclusion of new technologies to enhance the learning processes. FUNGLODE  and GFDD, with the support of that Ministry, the SEGIB and Virtual Educa, organizes the Ibero-American “Innovation in Education
and Training” exhibit to be presented in Asuncion, Paraguay on 28 and 29 October of this year. During the meeting, Lic. Eusebio shared expectations with respect to holding the upcoming exhibit with the Minister.

“EDUCATOR / EDUCAR”

On May 19 and 20 the conference on Education "Educator / Education" was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. EDUCATOR is the International Congress on
Education, where over 200 papers on topics of key relevance for this sector were presented.  EDUCAR is the International Education Fair, an impressive exhibit where over 115 Brazilian companies, involved in area of education, (publishing, educational technology, educational software, etc.) participate.

During the meeting , Lic. Eusebio made a presentation on the important work that FUNGLODE and GFDD is doing by serving as a bridge between international
educational software companies and potential local partners to create new businesses in the area of software development. She also emphasized the instrumental work being conducted through its Centre for Educational Studies.

Softex was the institution hosting the assembly of international guests, which created an appropriate forum for the exchange of experiences and the development of potential partnerships. Among the Brazilian companies presenting their products were
EXSTO, P3D, SWA, PLUSOFT, and CPQD, among others. All of them develop educational software available in Spanish for the Latin American market.
