GFDD participates in various activities in Mexico City, Mexico

On Monday, March 14, 2011, a technical meeting on the "El aula del futuro: construyendo la escuela de la era digital” project took place. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the design of a digital classroom prototype containing this type of technology and reference tools that allow the viewing of the new
educational models.
The meeting also addressed the design of the 2011 edition of the Muestra Iberoamericana "La Innov@ción en Educación y Formación," which will be presented at the XXI Summit of Heads of State and Government in Asuncion, Paraguay, on October 28 and 29, 2011.
The representatives of the various Virtual Educa corporate sponsors participated and shared their
opinions on the format for the presentation of this project.
Among the attendees the following should be highlighted: Dr. Henry Lau Cortes, University of Panama; Pearson Education delegation; Mr. Arturo Santana, Director General of CONAMAT; POSITIVO delegation; representatives of Virtual Educa Mexico; and Ms. Nelly Gochicoa of the OAS, among others.
This meeting took place at the technical office of Virtual Educa Mexico, located within
the National School of Mathematics (CONAMET).
On Tuesday, 15 March 2011, there was a meeting on the "Espacio Común de Educación Superior a Distancia" project. This project is being sponsored by the Organization of American States (OAS) and is part of the Multilateral Initiative on Educ@tion for Human Development (IMEDH) [OAS, Virtual Educa, Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO), Union of Universities of
Latin America and the Caribbean (ULAU), Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)].
Presentation of Virtual Educa Mexico 2011
Virtual Educa Mexico 2011 was presented during a luncheon at the TEC of Monterrey campus in Mexico City. The highest authority present, Dr. Patricio López del Puerto, Rector of the Virtual University of the Technological System of Monterrey, introduced the initiative and
stressed the importance for the TEC of Monterrey to host this important international meeting and to ensure that Mexico, for a second time, welcomes thousands of international participants during the week of June 20th to the 25th of this year who will share experiences and best practices in the field of education. Also, José Luis López Piña, Director General of ILCE, stressed the importance of this meeting for all educational institutions in Latin America
and the Caribbean and reaffirmed ILCE’s commitment to supporting Virtual Educa and to collaborate so that this twelfth meeting is a success.
This presentation took place at the Technological System of Monterrey campus in Mexico City, in which dozens of people from throughout Latin America and the Caribbean participated.

On the afternoon of Monday, March 14, the GFDD/FUNGLODE and OAS
representatives attended a special presentation by the Campus of Mathematics, a CONAMAT and PEARSON initiative, which has had great success among the students of this science.
Also, during the morning of March 15, they attended a presentation by Ms. Beatriz Jimenez, CONAMAT’s BELA (Online Bachelors Degree) project coordinator, on the benefits that this initiative will provide to people who, for various reasons, cannot attend classes in person to complete their
undergraduate studies.
