Dominican Association of the United Nations

More than 500 Dominican as well as students from other countries will have the opportunity to participate in the “New York-Dominican Republic Model United Nations” ((NYDRMUN 2010), a program now in its eighth year. The conference will take place from March 31 to April 3, 2010 in the UN General Assembly Hall and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY Graduate Center), both located in New York City,
USA.   

One of the major goals of NYDRMUN 2010 is the diffusion of the United Nation’s (UN) work and to give the young participants an opportunity to analyze and expound on the main challenges facing the international community in their role as ambassadors from the different member nations of the UN.
To this end, the work meetings of the NYDRMUN 2010 will touch on the current and most pressing issues facing the UN, to be
debated in English as well as in Spanish. The issues will include, among others, the protection of the world’s environment for present and future generations; reform of the UN Security Council; reduction of poverty and the creation of sustainable development.

This conference is being carried out in coordination with the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE / GFDD), the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republican to the United Nations and the Institute of Dominican Studies of City College, part of CUNY (City University of New York).
