InteRDom on the Agenda for the 3rd National Dominican Student Conference
April 1, 2009With only one week remaining before the event, InteRDom is stepping up its efforts to aid the student organizers of the 3rd National Dominican Student Conference in its national and international promotion.
The conference will take place from April 10 to 12, 2009 at the City College of New York in New York City. Both graduate and undergraduate students can register to participate,
but registration must be completed online before the April 3 deadline.
The agenda for the weekend will feature two keynote addresses: one at the opening reception on Friday night by Senior Vice Chancellor Jay Hershenson and the second on Saturday evening by Rosendo Alvarez III, CIO of Innov-E Enterprise Innovation and Honorary Council of Estonia in the Dominican Republic.
On Saturday morning and afternoon there will be three workshop sessions where
students can choose to attend one of three different topics per session. Each workshop will be led by a panel of 2-4 professionals with
extensive knowledge in the field. These professionals include some very influential and noteworthy figures in the Dominican Republic and Diaspora, including Senator Juan Pichardo, InteRDom’s own coordinator Alicia Alonzo, former InteRDom student Edward Gonzalez Acosta and various other professors, authors, entrepreneurs, scholars, CEOs and innovators.
InteRDom is the official internship program sponsoring the conference and team members will be present all
weekend to talk with students about the important role of internships in their career plans. InteRDom will have a table with brochures and other materials both at the welcoming reception and on Friday evening and at the Business Etiquette workshop on Saturday morning.
If you would like to make an individual appointment to speak with an InteRDom representative in advance, please send an email to: students@interdominternships.org.
This year’s conference is organized by DominiCUNY, a joint intellectual effort between the current Dominican student leaders and alumni of the City University of New York (CUNY), which was recently formed in order to strengthen its bid to host the conference. The organizers represent many colleges within the CUNY system, including Lehman College, Baruch College, Hunter
College and Bronx Community College.
