GFDD and FUNGLODE Sponsor the Signing of Agreement Between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and the University of California, Riverside

agreementGlobal Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), through their Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), and in collaboration with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in California and the Western Region in the United States, sponsored the signing of an agreement between the University of California, Riverside and the Dominican Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, with the purpose of providing 30 scholarships to Dominican students interested in enrolling in the University’s MFA Program in Creative Writing
and Writing for Performance.
 
Scholarships are open to students with bachelor’s degrees, interested in literary creation. Students are also required to have taken the TOEFL. In addition to the typical application materials requested by postgraduate programs, candidates also need to submit a 20-40 page manuscript in
English. The manuscript may be a script for a film or television program, story, extract from a novel, creative essay or theatrical screenplay.
 
agreementThe University of California, Riverside is offering
Dominican students selected by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology an academic fee rate of US$22,000.00 per academic year, which is equivalent to the academic fee rate for California residents. This cost includes:
 
  • Enrollment
  • English as a Second Language Instruction
  • Air transportation
  • Shared living expenses
  • Food
  • Books and materials
  • Ground transportation
 This agreement is valid for a period of four years.
