GMAI Awards Scholarships to Students to Study Film and Television Production at NYU

After an extensive evaluation process, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), New York University’s Opportunity Programs and One Race Films selected six Dominican students to study film and television production at New York University. Over 80 applicants were considered. Students were chosen based on their academic performance and professional interests.  The following
individuals will participate in the six week-long program:
  • Alberto Matos (Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo)
  • José Manuel Taveras (Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra)
  • Shahzad Yunas Pérez (Universidad Iberoamericana)
  • Carolin Natiel Rojas Santiago (Centro Universitario Regional de Nagua)
  • Carolina Veras (Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo)
  • Jessica Mercedes (Universidad APEC)
Classes start July 7th and end August 15th.
 
GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the
nation.
 
GMAI conducts collaborative work with prestigious international institutions and programs such as New York University’s Opportunity Programs, One Race Films, the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (International School of Film and Television) in Cuba and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP).
