Period for 2008 GFDD/FUNGLODE Award Submissions Begins

The formal release of the 2007 GFDD/FUNGLODE award winning works in the areas of literature and journalism served as the backdrop for the start of the 2008 GFDD/FUNGLODE Awards submission period.

 

The activity took place during the 6^th International Book Fair at the GFDD/FUNGLODE pavilion. The inauguration of the Fair occurred last Monday, April 21^st at the Plaza de la
Cultura in Santo Domingo.

 

During the event, FUNGLODE Communications Director, Iban Campo, presented the 2007 award winning publications in the categories of Poetry, Short Story and Journalism, and officially announced the commencement of the 2008 GFDD/FUNGLODE Awards submission period.

 

All entries for the categories of Poetry, Essay, Short Story, Novel, Journalism, Short Film,
Documentary Film and Photography will be accepted until 4:00 pm on October 1, 2008 at FUNGLODE’s office in Santo Domingo and GFDD’s offices in Washington, DC and New York.

 

This year for the first time, GFDD and FUNGLODE will offer the Federico García Godoy Award for excellence in novel writing. Moreover, the 2008 contest will also be open to legal residents who have lived in the Dominican Republic for a
duration of at least five years.
