GMAI and NALIP-DR Organize Film Presentation at FUNGLODE

On Friday, March 28, 2008, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI) and the Dominican Republic National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP-DR) organized an evening of film screenings at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

 

The following films were
projected:

 

Memoria invisible, Un taller de fotografía para no videntes (Invisible Memory: A Photography Workshop for the Blind) – Documentary Film

 

Mi embajada (My Embassy) – Short Film

 

Wanna Play – Short Film

 

Omar – Short Film

 

Traicioneros (Traitors) — Short Film

 

During the film presentation, GMAI and NALIP-DR representatives spoke of the diverse collaborative initiatives realized during the previous year and discussed the benefits that can be acquired through becoming a NALIP member,
both in the Dominican Republic and outside of the country. One such benefit in the Dominican Republic is a 50% discounted rate off all GMAI courses.

 

The screening session presented the opportunity for professional networking and the exchange of ideas concerning the films premiered. President of the Dominican Republic and Honorary President of GFDD and FUNGLODE, Dr. Leonel Fernandez, was present during the screenings, and shared
moments with the participants.

 

NALIP is committed to promoting the advancement and funding of Latino film and multimedia productions and seeks to raise awareness of issues of historic and cultural importance to the Latino community. GFDD, FUNGLODE and NALIP-DR organize collaborative activities that strive to advance the
multimedia industry in the Dominican Republic and further appreciation of the cinematographic arts.

 

GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly
qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.
