Events Taking Place During Climate Change Week At FUNGLODE

The week will be kicked-off Monday, May 21 with the
screening of the films “Too Hot To Handle” and “The Great Warming,” at 5:30 pm.  

On Tuesday, May 22, GFDD and FUNGLODE, in collaboration with the Climate Institute in Washington, D.C., will launch their International Conference on Climate Change: “Understanding the Science and Impacts of Global Warming,” with the  keynote address, “Climate Change: The Challenge of the 21st Century,” presented
by John Topping, President of the Climate Institute. The conference will commence at 7:00 pm.

The second day of the International Conference on Climate Change, Wednesday, May 23, will feature presentations by Dominican and international experts on themes such as: the regional impact of climate change on sea level rise, extreme weather phenomena, human health and epidemics, agriculture and food
security, and mitigation and adaptation. Presentations will take place between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm.

On Thursday, GFDD and FUNGLODE will launch their initiative, “From Science to Action,” a program designed to raise awareness of the ways in which the affects of climate change can be alleviated.
