Visiting the Dominican Republic Without Leaving Washington, D.C.!
May 7, 2017
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) partnered once againwith the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States to present the very best of the Dominican Republic during the 2017 Around the World Embassy Tour, a signature annual event in Washington, DC that is part of the Passport DC initiative.
Passport DC is a month-long journey around the world, highlighting DC’s thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied culture. The event is celebrated annually every May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic opened its doors to thousands of people on Saturday, May 6. As in previous years, GFDD/Funglode showcased some of their programs
promoting sustainability and the environment, technology, education, cultural heritage, and internships and scholarships in the Dominican Republic. During the event, the foundations also raffled three copies of the GFDD publications “Lo Dominicano I All Things Dominican” and “Dominican Republic: New Perspectives” among the visitors.
GFDD reaches out to the Dominican community and to all those interested in Dominican culture as part
of its mission to promote the understanding and appreciation of Dominican culture, values and heritage.
